History has always fascinated me. I’ve always sought to draw closer to it, to explore its garments and to breathe in its fragrance.

But can the modern world truly access the perfume of the ancient one?

Antiquity is a past that every present attempts to rediscover, to understand, and to carry forward into the future.

The fascination with the ancient world transcends the limits of time and memory, integrating itself with sublime grace into modernity and leaving behind an olfactory imprint on the universal memory.

One of the imprints etched into the consciousness of history is the one left by Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, cloaking the city of Pompeii in lava, ash, and smoke.

In bringing it back into the light of day, the modern world uncovered in Pompeii a treasure of human civilization, marked by the captivating beauty of daily and social life, and by the elegance with which every art form was practiced.

Archaeological excavations revealed that the city at the foot of Vesuvius had a deep knowledge of the art of perfumery, with many producers of precious ointments for the aristocracy — the most sought-after being the perfumer Agathon, a name meaning “the good one.”

Thus was born Agatho Parfum, in 2018, from a profound desire to rediscover the olfactory universe of the ancient world and to offer the past a new form of life, dressed in the aspirations and aesthetics of the present.

Thanks to the artistry of Alessandro Bianchi, the company's CEO, Agatho has successfully entered the demanding world of luxury perfumery, managing to leave its creative mark even on the most refined of senses.

Two of Agatho’s most important collections are the Pompei Collection and the Mytho Collection.

Agatho Parfum Pompei collection

Pompei collection is dedicated to the Pompeii of Roman domination, while the Mytho collection refers to the Pompeii of Greek domination, both offering a fragrant path into antiquity, keeping the fascination with the past alive.

Agatho Parfum - 195 A.C. Pompei Collection
195 A.C.

Here are my personal favorites from each collection — a selection that speaks to my heart.

Pompei Collection, 195 A.C. is a celebration of the repeal of the Lex Oppia, a law imposed

to limit feminine freedom and elegance.

The courage of the women who took to the streets to reclaim their freedom is embodied in essences of fig leaves, bergamot, and lemon, while their triumph is wrapped in jasmine and black tea notes.

GIARDINODIERCOLE was born in the intimacy of the legendary Garden of Hercules in

Pompeii is a symbol of tradition and innovation.

The refined creations of the legendary perfumer Agathon come back to life, spreading powders of lavender, black pepper, incense, and sandalwood.

PORTAMARINA is the olfactory painting of a serene morning in the Vesuvian city.

Mediterranean aromas of orange, thyme, cedarwood, and sage wrap the urban space in a fragrance inspired by the rhythms of nature.

ROSSOPOMPEIANO found its inspiration in the famous frescoes and their intense red, which history managed to bring back from under the ash.

Essences of yellow mandarin, bitter almond, rose petals, white amber, and vanilla invite you on a fragrant journey to patiently discover the city’s charm.

Agatho Parfum Mytho Collection

Agatho Parfum Mytho Collection - Seigiorni
SEIGIORNI

SEIGIORNI is the bestseller of the collection — an olfactory interpretation of the soul of Dionysus, the god of wine, ecstasy, and the liberation of the senses.

The sweet aromas of grape must, white peach, and candied lemon melt gently into the depths of reverie, where light woods, musk, and amber create a mysterious and seductive backdrop.

TERRAVIVA is one of the fruits of Greek mythology, created in honor of the goddess Hera, queen of the stars and of the sky.

The fragrance is a unique interpretation of the orange blossom, delicately spiced with notes of rose, jasmine, bergamot, vetiver, and creamy sandalwood.

OLIMPOVERDE is a fragrance dedicated to the wisdom and virtues of the goddess Athena, a symbol of justice and courage.

OLIMPOVERDE

Notes of calamondin, sweet orange, red thyme, and tonka beans evoke the elegance of strategic thinking, while jasmine and transparent musks complete the warm scent of victory.

The moment I held the carefully sculpted glass flacons crowned with handcrafted porcelain caps, I felt transported into the intimacy of ancient aristocracy, where artistic spirit and craftsmanship merge to give voice to beauty.

I saw Agatho perfumes as true works of art, where natural materials and vibrant colors blend into a tableau of elegance and refinement, carrying within them the silent essences of a distant past.

TERRAVIVA

Once on the skin, the refined notes of Mediterranean fruits, aromatic herbs, and elegant flowers begin to whisper ancient tales of forgotten beauty, of humankind’s sacred bond with nature.

Both the design of the flacons and the olfactory quality of the scents are modern interpretations of the ancient glory of the Vesuvian city, elevated by fine ingredients and a noble character.

Agatho is an olfactory ode to antiquity — a fragrant dream of the past, reimagined and refined to enrich our present and inspire our future.

I warmly invite you to discover more fascinating creations from this fragrance house, which beautifully captures the scent of history, on their official website: www.agathoparfum.com.

P.S. In a couple of weeks, Agatho will launch a new fragrance that was presented at Esxence, in Milan!
