At TFWA Cannes 2025, where fragrances often arrive pre-packaged for instant seduction, there was a moment that resisted the rhythm of the fair. Away from the noise of launches and slogans, a slower conversation took shape. One rooted not in trends, but in intention.

Sitting across from Hamid Merati-Kashani, perfumer and co-founder of Fabbrica Della Musa, it became clear that this was not an interview designed to extract soundbites. We didn’t speak about what sells, but about why something is created in the first place. About what a fragrance should carry, transmit, and quietly leave behind. Memory, texture, and the integrity of raw materials surfaced again and again—values that seem almost radical in an industry obsessed with speed.

What struck me most was the atmosphere of the exchange itself. For a trade fair, it felt strangely intimate. There was no urgency, no performance. The camera was present, but irrelevant. What mattered was attention—given fully to materials, to time, and to the small, almost invisible decisions that shape a perfume long before it ever meets skin.

When names like Cristallo Bianco or Dolcetto Romano entered the conversation, they didn’t arrive as products in need of explanation. They emerged naturally, like reference points in an ongoing dialogue. Each one became a way to speak about balance, restraint, and the quiet confidence it takes to let a formula breathe.

This interview does not attempt to define Fabbrica Della Musa, nor does it seek to decode perfumery. There are no conclusions offered, no lessons neatly wrapped. Instead, it creates space—for a way of thinking that values listening over noise, depth over immediacy, and intention over excess.

Sometimes, that kind of space is exactly what fragrance—and conversation—needs.
