Scent of a Memory: A Columbian Night with Iris Cartagena

At the confluence of passion and refinement, Bon Parfumeur reveals Iris Cartagena in the form of an olfactory story, designed to immortalize the thrill of a unique moment under the sky full of stars of Colombia. This is a creation dedicated to those evenings when the echo of a warm breeze accompanies the bitter flavors of coffee and the liquorice sweetness of rum. Each note deepens the story, inviting us to explore a love story of rich aromas and ephemeral gestures.

This exceptional scent is part of the exclusive Les Extraits collection, a true ode to the power of concentrated fragrances and their sensorial luxury. In this creation, the perfumer Clément Marx has transposed a moment of reverie: an intimate dinner under a star-filled sky, where the scents of syrupy rum and cocoa mingle with the soft freshness of iris and the depth of sandalwood.

Iris Cartagena opens with top notes of Antilles rum, enveloping the senses in its intense warmth, complemented by a powdery note of West African cocoa and mandarin petitgrain, bringing a fresh and bright glow.

This introduction promises a fascinating foray into the aromatic universe of the evening.

In the heart, a velvety embrace of Moroccan iris, Indian sandalwood with a rich woody texture, vanilla, and American cedar add depth and structure.

These notes resonate with the elegance of an intimate dinner under a star-filled sky, recalling slowly fading conversations and an atmosphere charged with promises.

As the fragrance develops on the skin, the base notes establish themselves with a bold presence: leather brings an animalic, slightly smoky and tobacco-toned character, while tonka bean adds a powdery, creamy sensation with an almondy undertone. Cashmeran, with its woody and slightly earthy nuances, completes the composition, evoking the sophisticated aura of the night.

Moroccan iris essence is one of the most precious and rare ingredients in perfumery. Its production process is particularly elaborate and extends over a period of 7 years. This note takes on a special nobility thanks to the process by which it is obtained: the roots are left to mature in the soil for 3 years, followed by another 4 years of meticulous drying. The result is a powdery note, with earthy and woody accents, giving the fragrance a sophisticated and deep texture.

Clément Marx, reflecting on the creative process, mentioned the complexity of capturing the richness and intimacy of a moment of love in such a vibrant place as Cartagena. He managed, however, to infuse the fragrance with an aromatic and intense romanticism, enriching it with an almost tangible texture.

Iris Cartagena is an invitation to a journey of the senses. It’s a tribute to an unforgettable evening, where every drop evokes the glow of stars reflected on the waves of the Colombian sea and the warmth that embraces your skin.

Ludovic Bonneton, the creator of the concept of Bon Parfumeur, recounts how this memory served as his inspiration — an evening where conversations fade softly and the scent of rum and chocolate floats like a promise in the warm air.

The art of perfume as a statement

Iris Cartagena achieves to become an olfactory expression of a captivating tale, offering a deep and refined experience.

This is not just a fragrance; it is a sensorial experience that evokes adventure and nostalgia, blending tradition with innovation. With each spray, this perfume invites you to surrender to a love story under the Colombian sky, where time seems to slow down and each scent becomes a journal note written in olfactory memories.
